The 311 Building
The tallest reinforced concrete building in the world when it was built in 1990, 311 South Wacker Drive remained the tallest building in the world that was known only by its street address – until 2015. Standing beside the Willis Tower, it is now the 9th tallest building in Chicago — but height isn’t everything. Known as the “Queen of the City” for its beautiful lighted crown at the top, the remarkable design of 311 was given the AIA designation of “Distinguished Architecture” for its beauty and uncommon features.
